what in a name!
I'm watching an old Dr Phil episode and it about judging people and stereotyping based on names.
I'm pregnant with my first and trying to pick a name.
How it's going to affect her through out her life plays a huge part in my decision and wonder what other people think if this. Regardess of what I or other people think people are often judged on their name before even meeting them. Are ppl less likely to get a job interview because their name is associated with being trashy, ghetto, a certain race or culture...? Is Giving a child a unique name or a name that has unique spelling going to have them teased growing up or are they going to have to constantly correct ppl on how to pronounce or spell their name?
I have a common name with common spelling (Lisa) so I never had to deal with this.
I know ppl are going to say, "my child, my choice" and your absolutely right but do you take into consideration how this will effect them forever?
Do you have a unique name/spelling and how do you feel about it now and growing up?
Do you have a name that's stereotyped negative or positive and how has has it effected you life?
