How much money should I spend on food?

Question

So if I make £500 a month give or take, how much money should I be spending on food a month (just for myself)? I have no idea how to budget or how to even do grocery shopping. I’m too stupid for the real world 😂

For yourself? I guess it just depends on your diet, when it comes to fruits and veggies you really need to find the best deals. 
You can buy 20 kinds of junk food for the same price as you would buy 10 kinds of healthy items...as a college student, budgeting for healthy foods is a must. 
Make a list: a huge tip is never grocery shop when hungry because you’ll grab a lot of junk foods, and making a list will help you focus on the essentials that you NEED. Not what you simply want. Saves time and money. 
If your grocery store has a reward program, sign up! I have a rewards card with Kroger and I save 10-20 bucks on groceries when I go because of all the rewards sales.
Look on the App Store for coupon apps like Flipp, you can see what kind of coupons are available and you can choose what store catalogs you want. There’s other ones you can use, too.
Personally, between me and my fiancé, we spend an average 300+ bucks a month because I love to cook meals. I stock up on a ton of non perishable items because of shelf life and I can use them for meals whenever I need them.

I spend about 15% of my income on food to feed both of us. So that would be $75 a month, which I think is do-able for one person
