Shaking head left to right when falling asleep? Anyone?

My little man shakes his head vigorously left to right for a few minutes before falling asleep. He doesn’t seem to be in pain or bothered by it, but sometimes he moves his head so much that he moves his own body around the crib 😨 Is this normal? Anyone experiencing this?

My son does this too. I’ve noticed that he does it when he’s tired or trying to fall back asleep. I’ve read online that babies do it to soothe themselves back to sleep.

My boy does that too. Weird. I hate it because he barely has hair and from all the shaking and just sleeping he has a bald spot on the back of his head 🤦‍♀️😆.

Yep! This is one way I know my LO is getting tired. He’ll do it wherever he’s laying down. Then when he’s in his crib he does it a little until he falls asleep.

yes my baby does it too, was very scared and I complained to her doctor, she checked her ears just to be sure and at the end the doctor said she is doing that to soothe herself and get comfortable before sleeping

Mine has only started it this week, I think it’s him trying to self soothe. It used to be leg slams, now its head shaking.

My daughter does it too that’s when I know she’s not comfortable and change her to a couple different positions till she falls asleep
