How do I know if I’m leaking amniotic fluid?

How do I know if I’m leaking fluid or just vaginal fluid? I am 36 weeks and I’m not sure if it’s fluid or not... I have been spotting brown yesterday and orange/brown today. 😬 I’ve had Braxton Hicks contractions on and off but that’s pretty typical.
UPDATE: thanks so much to everyone who replied. I went into triage, got an exam done, and found it was in fact NOT amniotic fluid. They said it’s just more vaginal secretion which is common this time of pregnancy.

You should go and have your doctor test it if you’re leaking frequently. They can do a quick swab and check it for amniotic fluid

My Dr told me leaking is heavier, as in more fluid, than typical cm. I have a lot of cm with this pregnancy so I was very nervous at one point. My panties are routinely wet but just the bottom part. She told me leaking fluid is like suddenly noticing you peed your pants- you'll notice your panties and thighs are wet but not soaked through completely. It sounds confusing but she said I'd recognize the difference...
