Do I Get a Plus One?
Hi friends! Iβm seeking advice from experienced individuals (aka all of you beautiful engaged/married ladies π)
I was recently invited to my childhood friendβs wedding. I havenβt kept in touch with her for years, but since weβve known each other for our entire lives, I wasnβt surprised that she extended invites to our close-knit friend group from high school.
Sheβs having a more private ceremony with only family, and then inviting everyone to their reception. My hometown (where she still lives) is a really rural area, and sheβs planning the festivities at her house, which is surrounded by acres of land (she has horses, so itβs a big property).
The wedding is in June, and I received the Save the Date in December/January. I havenβt received an official invitation but knowing the brideβs style and personality, I wouldnβt be surprised if they skip the more formal invite and just stick with the casual Save the Date.
My question is, is it rude to wonder about a plus one and if not, how do I ask? I was kinda waiting for an official invite since usually that will indicate if youβre allowed a plus one, but I donβt wanna wait too long and still be in this predicament a week before the wedding. I imagine itβll be a potluck style reception with home-cooked food from the bride and grooms families and Im guessing itβll be outside, so theoretically I wouldnβt be causing a seating or food issue by bringing my boyfriend? But I also understand that if everyone there had this thought process, the party could get out of control real quick.
Obviously Iβm going to go to the reception regardless and I wonβt be upset at all if she refuses, but if itβs an option and not a big deal, I would prefer a travel buddy and a built-in companion all night. What are your thoughts?
