Anyone familiar with TRICARE?!

So I’m 5+4 pregnant, the post we are stationed at is only a clinic so I got a referral to get seen off post, but the problem is I am going home while my husband is in training and won’t be back until I’m 11+ weeks... I had a miscarriage in December and want an ultrasound done to ensure things are okay before I’m out of my first trimester, but is it possible to get it done at a civilian hospital while home and TRICARE cover it??

Call tricare and ask. It depends which plan you are on.

No, you can’t change your region for such a short amount of time, they won’t allow you to just switch it back and forth like that. Also unless you’re high risk tricare won’t cover more than 2 ultrasounds a pregnancy. The first being between 9-11 weeks for dating and the second between 20-23 weeks for anatomy.

I’ve had 4 ultrasound and I’m 11 weeks pregnant but it’s only because I’m high risk and I have had bleeding off and on for this first part of my pregnancy. I haven’t seen a bill from tricare so...

we have reserve select Tricare nd to have an ultrasound done outside costs us 20% of the bill. Our plan only covered 80%.

I would talk to your OBGYN and tel, them the circumstance, they should try to work with you to get one before you go. That’s what mine did when we went to see his family a few states away

I'm assuming he's active duty? We had gone home when for a few weeks during the holidays and I had to go to the emergency room civilian hospital. Tricare covered that. Not sure if they'll cover just a visit for an ultrasound with no emergency reason to have one, like bleeding and ect. Tricare is a little funky, I'd call to double check.
