Should the mom to be be allowed to pick her baby shower theme?

Wanting to pick everyone's brain. I have thrown multiple showers for friends and family and I have always let them pick a theme that fits their taste. My bfs sister is throwing my shower and we have differing tastes. She turned down the theme I wanted. The whole thing has been a hassle so far anyways, so I've been considering taking over my shower.

My shower is tomorrow and I’m pretty sure my friend planned HER dream shower. I told her nothing too girly or pink; she sends  out the invite that is pink with flowers. I told her our nursery theme is space/penguins; she tells me she can’t find anything in that theme. After awhile I stopped suggesting things I like because I knew she wouldn’t follow through. I even had another friend try to talk with her to emphasize that none of this reflected me and she got mad. So I’m gonna show up, be grateful, put a smile on my face, and wear my black dress...😈

its your choice, my cousin planned mine in 2016 and she asked me my theme I wanted jungle theme I love wild life(she knew it already lol) she took it from there. its your day not hers love, you need to enjoy it and have the best memories.

My mom is throwing my shower, but I had a theme picked out. She loved my ideas and wanted me to be happy so we’re going with what I wanted to do. Seeing as it’s hour bf’s sister, that’s a little harder of a situation. She may just want to make it perfect in her own way for your, which is super thoughtful and sweet. But at the same time I could understand wanting to do your own thing, especially if your tastes differ. It’s your baby shower after all! If it’s really important to you, I would try and talk to her and explain and if she’s unwilling to listen, then maybe you should take it over.. but maybe be prepared for some hurt feelings

My sister picked the theme of both of her baby showers I hosted and I didn’t mind. It made it way easier for me. She picked my theme after running it by me, just because she knows me so well. I picked the date time and location for mine, and she did that for hers.

How does this work in your country? In our country it is a surprise and mostly not a theme. The one who gets the shower can’t decide anything and has to trust that it is the way she wants. Also, it is most times a high tea or lunch and some presents.
