Carolyn or caroline for a middle name?

My MIL name is carol. My husband doesn’t like carol for a middle name and I don’t care for his mothers middle name-which he suggested. Although they are different names, I thought maybe I’d suggest these ones but wanted to think about it myself-and with you ladies first haha. I like other choices for a middle name but thought If he felt necessary to honor his mother (our sons middle name is my dad’s name) that maybe we could use Carolyn or Caroline. What do you think?
