can you color your hair while pregnant?

I'm 28 weeks today with twins. I've been wanting to go to a lighter brown than I already am. I've always heard that you shouldn't color it while pregnant but yet I see people doing it all the time so I'm confused? also I'm curious if hair treatments are okay? like keratin and strength treatments and stuff.

I worked in a hair salon for 6 years and we always got our hair done... we’d get color touch ups every 3ish weeks. That being said, keratin and other harsh treatments were not allowed on pregnant women and stylists that were pregnant could not provide those services during their pregnancy. The chemicals are very strong and being in that close contact with them can’t be good. Most hair coloring products are safe for pregnancy tho. Just make sure you let your stylist know that you’re pregnant.

Getting my hair done mid June for my shower and Maternity photos. Got my hair done in December to, I’m just trying to not doing it much so I look like a hot mess tell June but that’s okay!

Just make sure you are well ventilated. If at home open a window and turn on a fan. That's what I do. Salons are required to be ventilated so you are probably good there.

This is me last week, obviously not a natural color. Yes you can color your hair, if you aren’t experienced I suggest going to a salon you trust and having it done there, much better for you and they know what can and can’t be used (some bleaching products are highly not recommended due to hormones and can fry your scalp/hair)
