Transition phase of labor

Those who had an unmedicated birth, what did the transition phase feel like for you? I did not have an epidural and at the time I didn’t know I was in transition but looking back I totally know. It went from painful and bracing for contractions. I felt like I had to be down low for contractions like hands and knees on floor... anyways when I went into transition I was making the weirdest sounds and my body was bearing down on its own. It was super weird! It wasn’t like I was pushing my abdomen was like tensing up and pressing my belly down and I had NO control over it whatsoever. I felt out of control and panicked. I kept looking at the clock for when they said the dr would be in to check me and it was an hour away and I didn’t know if I’d make it (like survive lol). I didn’t even have a clue that i was progressing super fast from that point on. They had to call the dr earlier and I was 10 cm

Anyways I’m just curious to know your perspective on transition. Or if you had an epidural did you experience anything different during this phase? It’s super unpleasant !!
