*updated*HELP. Roaches in fridge 😭
My boyfriend and I just moved into a 2 bedroom apartment. We have rented from this complex before and never had such a terrible issue with pests. Maybe like 5 bugs total in a year, but NEVER in the fridge.
Now we moved into this unit and since the first day we moved in there have been small roaches and baby roaches. Mostly in the kitchen area but we have found a few in other parts of the apartment too. The most disturbing part is that we have been finding them in the FRIDGE. This cannot be normal. There's barely even any food in our apartment bc we just moved in and we don't leave dishes out. We take the trash out every day.
I'm 19 weeks pregnant and roaches are an extreme anxiety trigger for me so you can probably imagine the impact this has had on me.
I'm asking for advice, because I can't seem to find anything online about my rights as a renter in the state of Texas regarding roaches in the fridge.
We contacted the apartment maintenance crew and they said they will refer a pest control company to come on Tuesday and do a "deep clean" of our apartment and spray for bugs.
Has anyone gone through this? I feel like spraying and putting poison in the fridge isn't going to do s*** and it's not good for me to be around all the chemicals while pregnant especially.
We've tried putting bait out, spraying many kinds of repellant/ killer spray, and I even put teatree oil in the fridge and they are relentless.
How are they even getting in the fridge? Shouldn't it be completely sealed off from the outside? I'm so freaking disturbed. I don't know what to do 😭 I want them to install a new fridge that is impossible for bugs to get into but I really doubt they're going to.
*PS sorry if this isn't in the correct group.
*UPDATE* my boyfriend and I managed to get out of our lease. We hadn't even been there a week and we saw so many roaches and baby roaches that we decided it's not worth the battle. Neighbors who have lived there for a year said it never got better even with pest control. I'm so glad to get out of this place!! 😓🙏🏼
