military engagement

I’m young, and about to be a senior in high school. My boyfriend is a senior and about to leave for basic and AIT training in two months. We’ve been together for 8 months but I’ve known him since I was around 9 years old. He wants to talk to my parents, who obviously love him and know his plans, and propose to me for his graduation. I’m panicking. Is it too soon? I’ll have to be married to him to travel with him on base.. but I love this man and his family more than anything. Anything to help calm my nerves about it?
