Antidepressants ?

Obviously someone here has either been on or is on antidepressants. im going to my doctor soon to hopefully be prescribed some. what are side effects? do i get to choose?

My doctor chose for me, but I've been taking zoloft for 2 years now. I think your doctor will chose a medicine and a dosage to start you on, but if it doesn't work or you don't feel comfortable for any reason, you have to tell them. I didn't have any noticeable side effects except for being very nauseous, but that stopped when I switched to taking the medication in the evenings.

I’m on Citalopram ( name brand celexa ) & the only ‘bad’ side effects I have is dry mouth & drowsiness.

Well for me if I didn’t eat something before I took it i got diarrhea and nausea. And the other thing is vivid dreams. Not bad dreams just super weird and random dreams it’s actually kinda cool because it feels like a movie. But I’m glad you’re getting help

My side affects with my antidepressants are a lot of sweating so that’s basically the worst one and it makes you more tired but it’s better then being not on medication and depressed! :D

You likely won’t get to choose because specific antidepressants actually target different types of issues. For example, I have experienced depression but also experience anxiety and OCD. So Lexapro was chosen for me because it also targets to the anxiety and depression. Your doctor will know best what meds will fear your specific situation the best. And side effects vary by drug and will effect everyone differently.

my doctor put me on Zoloft, I didn't get to choose. I haven't noticed any side effects but I've also only been on it for 5 days so far
