Sibling's Carseat

I had my boys 7 years apart. I purchased a carseat that would be functional from 4 lbs to 100 lbs. My first born stopped using it about 2 or 3 years ago because it's a little bulky. Given that the carseat is over 6 years old but in GREAT condition, should I use it since it might be past it's expiration date? My husband and I keep going back and forth on this. Thoughts?
