Is this normal?

I’m 13 weeks and I’ve had my generic appointment and first ultrasound but I’ve yet to get to hear the heartbeat. Is this normal? We scheduled an elective ultrasound because my doctors aren’t seeing me again until the 21 week anatomy scan and I just can’t fathom going more then half way through a pregnancy and not hearing a heartbeat... at the ultrasound we saw the baby moving and kicking and they said everything was healthy but I asked to hear the heartbeat and they said it wasn’t possible on the ultrasound machine and then my doctor meeting after still didn’t offer to let us hear... I’m just feeling weird about it all.

Especially because my sickness has ended and i keep questioning if I’m still pregnant or not. I have zero reasons to not be but i swear in my head I keep going “am i still pregnant” which i don’t know if that’s normal at 13 weeks either or not.

Ugh. Just ready to hear a heartbeat, feel some kicks and know the gender of my little jellybean so I can relax.
