What else should I be looking for in buying a house?

For sure a 3/4 bedroom 2 bathrooms or atleast 1 and a half, big yard front or back, washer/dryer connections and dishwasher.

Location! Location! Location! That is the most important thing because it’s the only thing you really can’t change. Buy the worst house in the best neighborhood and fix it up. Cost is an extremely important part. Ideally to maintain financial stability you should keep the cost of your housing to 25% of your take home pay on a 15-year fixed rate mortgage. look at the houses around it. do the neighbors keep them nice? can you stand to live in that area? 
saw a house we liked but the neighbor had a junkyard for a front lawn, with about 7 cars and a short bus up on supports without wheels! 
don't get hooked on minor cosmetics. walls can be painted, carpets removed, ect. 
look to see how new the roof is, how about the windows? water heater? heating unit? are they in good condition.  new pipes or old pipes? anything rusting or turning green.

Everyone has different tastes and styles they want in a home. If we ever buy another house I’ll be super picky second time around. 
I want a white kitchen with an island and a dining room that is in a corner vs in the middle of the kitchen/living room. 2 or 3 car garage, big backyard, hardwood floors throughout ... those are my requirements now. I also want a better layout, no more cookie cutter house. Open concept is nice of course but whoever built my current home didn’t really think the layout through. 
3/4 bedroom is good, 2 or more bathrooms is a plus. I don’t know what your budget is or where you are located but I’d go for a house with at least 2000 sq feet.

In addition to what everyone else has said check the water pressure 😂 that was the first thing I checked when my mom was looking for a house because our apartment had awful water pressure and it would barely wash the soap off your body

My mother was a real estate agent and the thing people ALWAYS overlook!!!! Check to see when the electricity and heating/ac was updated, check the renovations on the house itself. Sure, it may look pretty... But it also may fall apart. Roofs cost upwards of 10000$ to replace

schools if relevant for your life, commute time, traffic noise, proximity to things you need regularly (groceries etc), maintenance and energy costs.
