Fantasies

I am wanting to try some new things in bed with my husband. Specifically, I thought it would be fun to try some role-playing with different scenarios. I have casually mentioned this to him in the past, and literally, he said, "Fuck that."

He's kind of a self-conscious person, and I get that, but I felt very shut down and kind of embarrassed for sharing my ideas after his response. The thing is, many months later, I still want to try something new with him and am unsure of what to do. Do I try to talk to him about it again? Or would that be not respecting what he wants?

Also, when I ask him to tell me about any fantasies he has, he says he doesn't know.
