Is it appropriate for a nurse to call you “kiddo” at a prenatal visit?
Okay so here’s a little background: I am 20 years old and 26 weeks pregnant. I am engaged, own a house, have a college degree, and have a three year old daughter.
Soooo, I went to a prenatal appointment with my fiancé this morning. There, my nurse referred to me as “kiddo.” I felt like that was inappropriate but I let it slide bc some people just use different terms. But then a new midwife, who I hadn’t met yet, kept using similar language when speaking to me. She kept calling me “sweetheart” and “darling” and commented on how small I am.
My question is, is it normal for a professional to call someone these names at a prenatal appointment? Has it happened to you?
