First appt rescheduled and no ultrasound at appt?

My first appointment was scheduled for May 7th but was rescheduled for May 9th. I know it’s only 2 days but I can’t help but be sad about it. 
I’ll be 9 weeks by that time. I also found out that they don’t typically do ultrasounds at the first appointment unless they feel a bedside ultrasound is necessary. Has anyone had this same experience?

Most places do not do an early ultrasound unless you’re unsure of when your last period was or you have complications. I am having one in a week due to bleeding I’ve been having, but had I not had an issue it would be about 20 weeks along to have one.

My dr does two back to back appts, one first with ultrasound tech, and then after I will meet with dr to go over results and other things. My first appt is May 8th, I should be about 7 weeks then. I cannot wait!!!

I think it’s a dr office preference. My dr office does one at 8 weeks to verify pregnancy and baby is healthy then at 20 weeks for the anatomy health scan. Unless high risk or having problems they don’t do anymore. Mainly because insurance and it really isn’t medically necessary. It’s hard bc we all just want to see our baby and know he/she is ok on every visit but unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. You can always go to a ultrasound place. They usually charge like $40-60 for a 10 min scan.

Where are you located? That seems strange to me. Most places in the U.S. will do a confirmation transvaginal  ultrasound at your first appt. when you’re 8-10 weeks along.

My doctor told me that it’s a fight with the insurance company, they don’t want to pay for 1st trimester ultrasound. so they have us come in for our first appointment and then they find a ‘reason’ for a first trimester ultrasound.
