Painful boobs post weaning?

After 583 beautiful days of breastfeeding, my daughter successfully weaned a little over a week ago.

She was only nursing once at night so my body wasn’t making very much milk for awhile now. I wasn’t concerned about clogged ducts or having discomfort during the drying process because of the small amount I was producing. However, I noticed today my boobs are really sore. Especially around my areola/nipple.

Anyone else experience this? Just seems odd that now over a week later I would be sore out of no where. 😩
