How long does it take for the umbilical cord to fall off?

Since having my first born 4 years ago I’ve forgotten a lot of things. How long does it take for my newborn’s umbilical cord to fall off? He is 1 week old now and it’s still attached. It’s lifting and stuff, but hasn’t quite fallen off. Though I don’t remember how long it took to fall off I remember it falling off quite easily for my oldest. I’ve been cleaning it with alcohol, because the nurse at the hospital said that would help it dry out.

My baby’s just came off yesterday, 17 days. I’ve heard it can be anywhere from 1-3 weeks but if it stays past 3 weeks then to mention it to your pediatrician.

My LO’s fell off at around a week and half. Just letting you know cause it freaked me out at first: after that dry piece fell off there was this bloody looking bit in her button. There was some blood on the diaper which worried me a lot but after a day or two that blood part dried up and fell out on its own too, leaving a normal looking and cute belly button!

My little one just lost hers a few days ago... 2 1/2 weeks. Didn't use alcohol, just rinsed with water and kept it dry. Her little belly button is so cute!
