If I am a good person, but do not worship god or practice religion, will I go to hell?

I was never a religious person but always believed that God exists, although I spoke with a very devoted Christian that told me I will go to hell.  Thoughts?

What is good though? Jesus himself said none are good but my Father in Heaven. Have you ever lied? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever coveted someone else's belongings? Have you ever judhed someone based solely on their appearance? Have you ever taken the Lords name in vain? If you answered yes to any of these then you will go to hell. Jesus said I am the way and the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but through me. We are all sinners and deserving of hell but by accepting the gift of salvation through Jesus, that is your ticket to Heaven.

This is a complicated question that deserves a complicated answer. For those scrolling through, as to whether it’s a yes or no is simple, but it needs explaining. A simple answer is not answering what the question is truly asking. 
Before I begin, I will be talking from a Christian point of view that often will use words in a way that assumes all orthodox doctrines of Christianity are true. Feel free to believe differently if you wish, I cannot control that, but I will be talking this way for simplicity’s sake. 
To get on with it, we need context. First, God created the world and everything in it. God makes mankind perfect and without a single flaw and gives them choice. They choose not God and thus God had to be separate from His creation resulting in sickness, pain, suffering, toil, and death as well as many other things. The standard of righteous and pure is God in a Christian worldview, so even at the very beginning God would have been fully just to wipe out all of mankind and begin anew if He chose to begin again at all, but out of love, He stayed His hand and instead chose another path. I will have to skip over much of the process of arriving at His plan, which is saddening due to how powerful and beautiful it is, but I don’t have the space. Eventually, Jesus arrives on the scene, proclaims the Kingdom of Heaven is arrived, and proceeds to teach about God’s truths and lay the groundwork for Christianity that is simultaneously founded on the Hebrew Scriptures (the Law and the Prophets). Jesus then “gives His life as a ransom for many” and is buried, but rises in the third day in triumph over sin and death, the two actual enemies of God (Satan is a worm and nothing more). Here’s where the answer to your question comes up. As for why Jesus died, God is just and every wrongdoing we have done, whether it be lying, gossiping, or anything that is regarded as sin, no matter how small, is deserving of death and separation from God. Jesus took all this punishment upon Himself on the cross. That is why God abandoned someone for the first and only time in history. Jesus was judged for every wrong thing you or I had ever done, and that is how the path to forgiveness was opened. It is by Jesus’s sacrifice alone that we can be forgiven. A murderer who becomes a philanthropist is still a murderer and it is just to still charge him of murder. We have done evil in God’s sight and no good will ever be able to cover that up. Like the murderer, we are forever marked by our sins until judgement is fulfilled, but Jesus took that judgement. No person is good enough to earn heaven, ever, but all are bad enough to earn Hell. As hard as that is to believe, that is Christian belief. Therefore, in rejecting Jesus and His Gospel, you reject the Son of God and the sacrifice He has made, which is sin in itself, but also means you reject God’s forgiveness. It’s a hard line, I admit. This is why good works are not enough to be able to enter heaven. One must be “born again.” No one can earn heaven, but we all have done plenty to earn Hell.

To be honest, and I hate saying this but I think so. It’s biblical that the only way to Heaven is through Jesus. Good works are exactly that, good works, but you can’t earn salvation. It was bought with a price by Jesus and therefore He bridges the gap between us and Heaven/God so He’s the only way there.

But God is worthy to be praised and worshipped. Let every body that has breath praise the the lord. Every tongue and every knee shall bow down and confess Jesus is Lord🤷🏾‍♀️ I mean religion shouldn’t be such a big thing. And sometimes people take scriptures out of the Bible just so they can justify them. Which is a big NO. If your a Christian person, and you read your bible and ask God to guide your footsteps you will know the right way to go, which is why people fail at knowing the honest truth.. some people judge Christians saying they are “judge-mental”which isn’t really the case. God says to warn people OR the blood will be on your hands. Especially if you know the truth. And people who know right from wrong will get condemned worse. Like it or not, but I’m being honest if you are not living according to the holy bible you need to reread the Bible and really dig deep into it more. Not putting you in a heaven or hell because honestly I’m not God obviously. But I dare you to just try to dig deeper ask GOD for answers. What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? Any negative comments will not be read. And I’m definitely not replying to any. Th only way you can get to the Father is through the son. The reason Jesus died on the cross was so we didn’t have to work are way into heaven with sacrifices. He made it as an optional gift. Therefore you cannot get into heaven by being a “good person” (there is no such thing) you must ask Jesus into your life and ask for forgiveness of your sins. You need to let God take control and follow him. That’s the only way you can get into heaven

Here's the truth (whether you choose to believe it or not) :  There is a God.  There is only ONE God.  He created EVERYTHING that exists.  He has a son.  His name is Jesus. They both love us beyond our human comprehension.  God created man.  (that includes men,  women,  and children)  The first man created was Adam,  then God took a rib from Adam  and with that,  he created the first woman- EVE.  Unfortunately, Eve was tempted by satan to eat a fruit from a tree God forbade them to eat from.  Eve gave in and ate it.  She also gave it to her husband and he ate.  This was this first sin. Sin must be punished. The punishment of sin is death.  Not the death we experience on earth....eternal death- hell. God is righteous.  He is just. God also loved Adam and Eve very much and wanted to save them from eternal death.  The only way to save them was to send his only son- Jesus to earth to be born to a virgin and live and die on a cross bearing all of them world's past,  present,  and future sins. ALL of the sin that has tever been committed and ever will be.  When Jesus died for those sins He died to save Adam and Eve AND he died to save me and YOU. EVERYONE. If you believe in God and you trust him any everything He has said,  then you believe that everything I said is true... and if you  believe that is true,  then all you have to do is confess your sin to God,  ask him to  forgive you, save you, and take you to Heaven when you die. Accept God's gift of salvation through his son Jesus. If you do that,  then you will be saved... from eternal death... and there is NOTHING that can change that.  Nothing that you could ever do will change that.  On the other hand,  if you have believed what I have said,  and  you don't confess your sin and you don't  accept the gift of salvation,  then you will not be saved from eternal death which is hell. I am a Christian (which means follower of Christ).  I dont associate  myself religion.  Religion is man made  and no one needs it to get to Heaven.  No one can ever do enough good to get  them to Heaven.  Accepting the gift of eternal life through the gift of Jesus's life is the only way.
