Should kids/teens be allowed to have a lockable door (unlockable from other side in emergencies)?🚪🔒

i think that space/some privacy is good. sometimes everyone needs to be alone so knock before coming in. BUT i think a parent should have access to the room at all times. doesnt mean be in there 24 7

As a teenager I could not get changed if the door wasnt locked. I was too anxious and didnt trust someone not to walk in. I guess I could have changed in the bathroom all the time but since my clothes were in my bedroom that would have been a bit inefficient 🤗

In our house, we respect the need for space but privacy is nonexistent (except in the bathroom, but even then no locked doors). We believe more in being completely open but if someone needs time alone the rest of us will respect that and not intrude.

in my opinion   nope that  gives them the opportunity to do   wat they shuld not be doing
i have 2 teens    in my house n they gave ask   to lock there room      they dont need no  privacy in my house   they want privacy they shyld  get a job and  a appartment

My mom would never let us have a lock in our room. But I’m actually happy she never did. I learn to live like that and was always open with my mother. And we had a door in my room but I rarely had it closed because I felt fine. As long as you have open relationship with the parent you don’t need all that. Locks to me causes separation

depends on the child. if the child doesnt give u a reason to mistrust them then i dont have an issue with it. but if the child is rebellious is disrespectful and causes problem then no. when i was a kid as long as my grades were good and i did my chores was respectful then my parents left my room alone
