Is 18 months to young for toddler bed???

Is 18 months to young for a toddler bed?? My son will be 18 months when the new baby is born should I get him a toddler bed and give the new baby his crib or just buy a new crib for the baby and keep my son in his crib?? How old was your child when you switched them to a toddler bed??

Not to young at all. Some kids skip the crib and go straight to a mattress on the floor.

You might want to wait a few months after new baby arrives before doing big changes to sleep arrangements. Can you borrow/ get secondhand a cradle or bassinet for new baby to last a few months then do the change? The toddler might have a hard time anyway adjusting to being put out by the baby, and that could be made worse by losing his bed.

We switched my son onto a mattress on the floor at 13 months because I’m due with my second when he will be 18 months. We made sure his room was completely baby proofed and we had no issues with that transition. Good luck!

I am switching my son at about the same age.  He sleeps in our bed from time to time, so I do not worry about it too much.
 
I just need to fully baby proof the room so that if he gets out of bed and wanders while we are asleep, he cannot hurt himself

We've just switched to a toddler bed at 14 months. I liked the idea she can get used to sleeping in her big girl bed, but isn't tall enough to open the door and escape if she gets out of bed in the middle of the night.

my son was about a year old when I put him in a toddler bed, but that was mainly because he didn't like sleeping in the crib.
