Breastfeeding and bottle feeding
Because my daughter was born smaller, the hospital suggested I give her the breast then supplement with expressed breast milk in a bottle after the breast. She feeds for about 5-10 minutes at the breast then sleeps or just stops but then a few minutes after taking the breast she gets hungry again so I give her 60mL of breast milk in a bottle, then she gets satisfied. I’m not sure if she’s taking enough at the breast since she only gets satisfied if I give her the bottle afterwards.
I want to only breastfeed (no bottle) her so I wanted to know how long will it take until she doesn’t need to be supplemented and what do I need to do? Should I just give up the bottle and have her take breast only? I don’t want her to end up getting less milk as a result of that. And I can’t tell if she’s just cluster feeding or really not getting enough because she’s not very efficient at feeding directly at breast for her size.
