Tips for induction?

Question

I'm being induced a week from tomorrow (assuming baby hasn't made her grand entrance) 😉. I'm planning on laboring as long as I can bear it before getting an epidural. Do any of you Mama's with experience getting induced have any recommendations? Either of what to expect or tips to help it go smoothly?

Girl I made it without epidural and it was my first baby and got induced .. i just dealt with it even tho i couldnt take it anymore . My husband was there holding my hand and my mom was there telling me i had to be strong . So i made it i only got pain reliever on my iv but that crap makes you lose your mind 😁 it made feel high , drunk , sleepy 😴 but i slept through the pain and some would wake me up but i just dealt with it .. i was more scared of that needle touching my back then the pain

It might take longer than you’d like or expect but don’t lose hope! Stay strong and stay focused. Get as much sleep/rest as you can!

I just posted about this on someone else’s thread but I was induced at 35 weeks last time because my water broke but I wasn’t having any contractions and they needed to get him out due to risk of infection. I got into a room at 7 pm and I was only like 1 cm dilated if that, they put me on pitocin and it took 3 hours for it to start contractions. Once they came, I won’t lie to you, they were very intense and on top of each other so i immediately asked for an epidural. At that point my nurse turned down the pitocin bc my body kind of took over on contractions but the epidural felt amazing and I fell asleep. They couldn’t check me very much bc the broken water presented a huge infection risk but they woke me up at 3 am to check me and I was at 10cm! Pushed for an hour and he was here!  So overall, it was super easy. My only “tip” would be to say don’t get discouraged if you want the epidural sooner than you hoped. I’m sure some mamas out there have done a induction labor without meds but from what I hear, it’s totally different from spontaneous labor bc in spontaneous labor the contractions (in theory) slowly get stronger and closer together and on pitocin they can be more intense and out of no where!  I’m 37 + 5 with baby #2 and hopefully will go into spontaneous labor with him so I’d need a couple weeks and I’d be able to compare them for you! 😂 good luck, mama!!!👍🏼

My induction with our first was honestly kind of a nightmare. Thankfully everything ended well and I was still able to have a vaginal delivery. My biggest piece of advice would be to keep an open mind, and no matter what happens, getting baby here healthy and happy is what matters most in the end. If things don’t necessarily go as you were hoping, just try to focus on that part. Wishing you the best mama!

I made it through two inductions with no epidural! The first one was really hard because they cranked up the pitocin way too fast. The second one, I made sure they knew I did not want that to be the case and it was an incredibly easy labor. I had soft music playing the whole time, bounced on a ball for a while, and focused on breathing and prayer throughout the contractions. Do what you need to do to stay focused on the end result! You can do it. 😁👍🏼
