Induction questions?

Okay ladies so I’m being induced on Monday at 8 am, at 40+1. They plan on giving me Cervidil to ripen me, then switch to Pitocin. What can I expect? Fast labor? Slow labor? Painful contractions? Mild contractions? I would personally love to hear your personal stories on how your induction went. Good or bad, I just want to get a couple perspectives so I can prepare myself. Thanks ladies! 😍

when I was induced they used pitocin, took 12hrs from start to finish.. contractions were moderate.

I had a horrible experience but I was induced at 38+1. My inductions started on a Tuesday and I didn’t have her until freaking Saturday. I think it really depends on your starting point. Are you dilated at all yet? Effaced? Is your body showing signs of being ready? Mine wasn’t doing shit which I think made it worse.

I was  also induced with Cervidil followed by Pitocin. I was only 1cm dilated when I went into the hospital. Cervidil was in for 12 hours (in my case this was overnight, 5pm to 5am). I barely slept as I couldn’t get comfortable and had to pee a thousand times and then any time I finally did relax my nurse would come in to adjust the monitor they had on me because the baby had moved and it wasn’t picking up Gus heart rate anymore. Despite the lack of sleep that part wasn’t too bad. I apparently started having small contractions through the night but I didn’t feel them. Early in the morning the Cervidil started making me really uncomfortable. Around 4:30am shortly before it was due to come out, my water broke. They took the Cervidil out and soon after started pitocin. The pitocin kicked things into high gear and contractions came on strong and fast, I stuck it out for a while but did end up getting an epidural. I remember at one point they thought I was progressing too quickly and turned down the level of pitocin, the contractions slowed to very few and far between. I honestly think they turned it down too much. So they turned it back up and also had me roll the inflatable peanut ball thing between my legs to get things going again. Around 11:30am I started pushing, I pushed for 2 hours. (I’m not sure if I just suck at pushing but my son also did have a really big head). He was born around 1:30pm, about 21 hours after they started my induction. 
The doctor said my induction was pretty textbook, it went about as well as an induction can. I wouldn’t mind being induced again, but the pitocin definitely makes contractions stronger.
