Curious if any of you would marry for survival if you didn’t love the individual?

My friend did this. She couldn’t find a job (and was looking for over a year), her savings ran out, she had some medical concerns and no health insurance. She had been trying to leave her boyfriend for months but could not get a job and no one would let her move in because of her pets and she refused to give them up. She finally married her boyfriend at the justice of the peace for survival because of medical issues and finances. She doesn’t love him and didn’t take his last name. Shes not happy but her plan is to leave once in a better place.

I understand, but Im not sure what I would do if in the same situation? Would you do it ? Why or why not?

*update ... she told him why she was doing it. He begged her, he wanted to help her and care for her. He was borderline abusive and would get drunk and out of control that’s why she had tried to leave multiple times but couldn’t fund a job.
