Son might have behavior issues?

Question

I plan on making a doctors appointment but I would like your input as well.
My son is a year and half and for several months now when he’s upset he bashes his head on something harder and harder.
We’ve been trying to correct it but nothing is working. 
Anybody deal with the same? Is it a phase.

My son is the same age and started doing this a bit after his first birthday. It was concerning and scary but according to his pediatrician it’s how babies deal with not getting what they want. She recommended showing him a toy or distracting him by playing with him. My son would usually do this when I was cooking or watching TV for attention so I just gave him some more one-on-one time and it’s gotten better

my son started doing this before he turned one i talked to his dr about it and she said its normal for them to do this as they can't talk they will try and show you that they are upset or mad. and to just put him in his pack n play for time out so that's what i did when he would start doing that he is now 3yrs old and still does it when he gets mad with his oldest brother/sister but he will stop on the first time cause his nose starts to bleed bad even tho he does not hit his nose just with banging his forehead on the floor that will make him bleed. if you have a pack n play just put him in there ones he starts doing that

I've never personally had this happen but plenty of friends who have, theyve all been told it's pretty normal around that age and that if they dont stop by a certain age they'll look into it further

mine used to do this my pedi said "let him eventually itll hurt he will stop" and sure enough lol

My nephew does this. He’s almost 4 though, and when she came to visit he did it almost three times everyday for the week she was here. It made me nervous because he did it to everything. Threw himself on the hard floor and did it, against the wall, against the fridge. She said that he’s done it outside on the concrete before.
She was told to ignore it when he does it, but she said that she’s tried that for a couple weeks and he doesn’t stop until she picks him up and even then he’ll try head butting her. 
She’s taking him for a second opinion so if whatever she is told works I’ll let you know! I think he’s been doing this for about a year now, if I remember correctly. I don’t see them that much but this is what she told me.
