Discrimination?

I've just started a new job in a supermarket and my duties include heavy lifting. I'm 16 weeks pregnant and my manager said I should "consider my position" because they "can't move me to checkouts". I'm on a 12 week probation and we're just going to see how I get on but I don't want to put me and my baby at risk of anything. I just need some advice cos I'm pretty sure I could take legal action for this?

I think you are covered. The law in the uk is really good and protective. The only thing I’ve seen is that you have to give written notice. This website is good for info.

I’m not sure the law, but I would just ask if you can do other duties. It’s common sense not to let staff do heavy lifting?! That seems unfair xx
