Low Hemoglobin?

Question

We had ourfirst ob appointment on Wednesday, which was just a nurse's visit and labs. Well I got my results back from the labs today and the hcg looks good. 92,000+ at 8 weeks exactly. The only other highlighted result was that my hemoglobin was low. I'm confused. If blood volume is supposed to increase during pregnancy, shouldn't my hemoglobin be high?

I always tested low because I wasn’t getting enough iron into my diet. I couldn’t eat meat of any kind during my first pregnancy so obviously I wasn’t getting what I needed. had to be on iron supplements the entire time.
