If you have a boy, will you be getting him circumcised?

I don’t know how anyone could if they fully understand the procedure. I used to be for it but after bawling my eyes out watching the pain those baby boys go through, no way in hell. Plus there are many issues that can come about later in life after circumcision. Baby boys aren’t born flawed, there’s no need to cut off part of them.

I’m in the UK so it is not common here. Only done for religious (Jewish and Muslim) reasons. It wouldn’t even cross most people’s mind here to do it

As a maternity nurse that sees hem done day in a day out if I find out I’m having a boy we won’t be circumcising him. Some babies do great and sleep through it and others don’t. I feel it’s cosmetic. If they are taught how to clean themselves they should have no issues and if they decide them want to be when they are older well they can make that decision themselves. Barely anyone does it out west anymore I think it’s personal preference.

It’s an outdated, unnecessary practice with more and more research disproving all that was positive about circumcision. I personally find it barbaric.

One of my uncles had to have an emergency circumcision when he was about 6 years old. His foreskin nearly strangled the life out of his penis. It was so traumatizing for him. And while I understand this is a very rare occurrence, I just can’t imaging putting a fully aware child through it. In the end, I asked my husband, and he wanted our little guy circumcised, so my son is circumcised and he never even knew it happened. If this baby is a boy, he will also be circumcised.

I voted no because that’s what I feel is right, but I haven’t completely decided yet. I think it’s extremely unnecessary and I honestly wish it wasn’t normalized by our society. That’s the only thing stopping me is someone potentially thinking he’s “weird” later in life. However, I really think it’s unnecessary and don’t want to put my baby through that.
