My 16 month old son came down with a very runny nose, super high temperature which wasn’t coming down with calpol and nurofen and a slight cough. I put it down to just a commen cold. Then he developed a cough which sounds like a barking dog or a seal and severe diarrhea.

He refused liquids and foods. His breathing became very rapid and he was sucking his chest in clearly showing signs of struggling to breath so we rushed him to the hospital. They diagnosed croup. He has viral induced wheezing as they can’t diagnose asthma in under 5’s and has had this from birth. In my medical knowledge the diarrhea is not commen with croup so has anyone elses baby/child had diarrhea and croup ?? The thing is also he was in the bath and i give him a empty bottle he fills and squirts the water out of. This is his favourite out of all the bath toys. I stupidly put the same bottle which had shampoo in it next to the play bottle. He grabbed this and ate some which i thought he was drinking the water!! I went to stop him drinking the water and realised it was shampoo. This can cause the diarrhea but not the coughing like a dog surely?? Please no bad comments it was a very stupid mistake which i feel terrible over and have since now kept all bottles away from him and changed his play bottle to a water bottle. Thanks in advance.
