What are some different ways to go about potty training?

I'm a first time mom and I honestly have no idea how to go about this, my daughter is 18 months old and I have heard that's a good time to start, she's always interested in the bathroom and watches me go and will try to give me toilet paper when she knows I'm done and she'll try to flush the toilet for me so I feel like she has the whole idea of using the bathroom down. We bought her a little potty chair a couple months ago and we got one that looks like an actual toilet it even has a little flush switch on it but I've tried several times to sit her on it and she always just looks so awkward to be sitting on in and wants to get up, I didn't push her to stay on it because she wasn't quite 18 months yet so I figured maybe she just wasn't ready yet. Any tips or ideas on what to try would be greatly appreciated
