Frozen embryo Transfer on first round of IVF?

Question

I just had a consult with my RE and he said that he wanted to skip a fresh transfer and wait a month to do a frozen transfer. I’m really confused as to why? He said it would be best to allow uterus to return to normal before implanting. I’m 31, had bilateral hydrosalpinx (both tubes were removed this month), and my husband has above average sperm. He said it’s the standard now, but I have never heard of this. I would appreciate any feedback! Thanks!

We did frozen the 1st time (we also did PGS because I'm 40) and got our BFP! They say it has better odds and honestly it was sooooo good to let my body recuperate from all the meds. I think you will agree too! Good luck mama!

more clinics are sticking to frozen cycles only. I had the option,  I chose tindo a fresh (mainly because it was included in my payment) it failed, I'm on to a frozen this coming Tuesday. I'm hoping that because all of the stim drugs are out of my system, my body will have a better chance at keeping this cycle

We did a fresh but if my estrogen went over 2500 they would make us do a frozen transfer but my nurse did say a lot of clinics are making it to where they only do frozen transfers and won’t do fresh

We did a fresh. It was unsuccessful, but my uterine lining was great and I was taking progesterone injections. My doctor didn’t say one or the other is best.

We did fresh the first time and I was miserable during the first transfer as the hormones were heightened by pregnancy hormone.  I am super happy to have the option to do a Fet this time ( first IvF was 11 years ago with not so great freezing technology).  My clinic has higher rates with FET then fresh and a fresh transfer is not included in their freeze all package so there was no reason for us to do it really.  The FET i not costing much more to us.  Having the time to recover my body from the hormones is so good.

We did fresh. Our insurance required the first cycle to be done fresh, unless there was a medical indication to postpone to a frozen- like getting ovarian hyperstimulated. Success rates for fresh and frozen are comparable! There is a medical journal article that shows the data supporting both approaches. I would just try not to worry and trust your doctor and trust your body. Good luck!

I attended an IVF seminar at my Reproductive Endocrinologists clinic. During the hourand a half I got some great information.  My clinic does fresh ,but the embrologist said that doing a frozen has a 98% success rate at my clinic. She said that the hormones,and womb are going crazy at that time. I will be starting IVF next Year around February, and I'M certain that I'm only going to do a frozen. They take so much care,and attention to the frozen embryos.
