Do you think it’s ok to have close male friends when in a relationship?

There is quite a few discussions on here about our views on your husbands, boyfriends etc having female friends and being uncomfortable with it. So, my question is, if the roles were reversed, would you feel that it would be ok to have a close friendship with a man while in a serious relationship?

I personally don't think a married man or woman should have a best friend of the opposite gender. Fortunately my husband completely agrees with me so don't start with the 'controlling behaviour' nonsense. It was what we'd agreed on before marriage. My husband is my best friend so I don't get why I need any other guy friends. Also, I have seen too many best friends end up in serious relationships and even marriages... There's a reason for why two people of the opposite gender can be so close and it can easily lead to attraction.

Yes, but only in certain situations. If the male friend has feelings for you, it’s definitely inappropriate. There are some boundaries that should just not be crossed.

Please, I jokingly refer to my BF close friend as his work wife. They grew up together, more they work together. They’re pretty close.  And I don’t care. She’s cool. So is he. 
My BF also doesn’t give a damn that some of my closest friends are dudes. 
If men and women are viewed as equals and not just sexual objects or gender stereotypes then there is. I problem.
