I'm 13 weeks pregnant with my first. I've been researching home births and I want to know your personal experience. Everyone close to me has had a hospital birth and tell me I'm going to need that epidural, I should be at a hospital since it's my first etc. I don't want to act like I know everything but I know our bodies were made for giving birth. I can handle pain, while I've never given birth, I know it's not something I can't handle. I want to feel empowered. I want to do it on my own and I want to be at home where I feel comfortable and safe. I just don't know how to go about it. Do I find a midwife or a doula? What's covered by insurance in a home birth? How would my OB feel about it?
