Please help.. I don't know why he does this. I only tried to push him because I wanted him to own up to his true feelings. I am hurting because I want him to be with me but if he doesn't feel the same way then I want him to leave me... because I can't leave him. But he claims to not want to. Can someone please justify this??

I think you're a bit too dramatic, sorry. If you don't feel appreciated, then end it. He doesn't want to leave the relationship. Love is supposed to grow from a relationship. If you feel like it's taking him too long, then pick someone else and don't try to make him feel something he doesn't feel.
"I don't feel loved enough" means nothing. If you're missing something from him then ask for that and not for him to love you more. 
I think he's right. You're trying to make him feel bad for not living uo to your expectations, but you don't really seem to express your expectations to him.
