Matching tattoo with boyfriend

Michelle

My boyfriend wants to get a tattoo that means a lot to him, and he’s had his brother and best friend offer to get it with him, and I feel like he wants me to make that offer. Normally, I’d be open to talking about it buuuut it’s a project semicolon tattoo.

He struggles with anxiety and depression, and I understand him wanting it, but as someone who struggles with bipolar, I don’t want it, for several reasons. One being that I don’t like the movement, no offense to those that do. I understand the point of the movement is to destigmatize mental health, but bipolar has a lot more stigma to it than depression does, and I don’t like the assumptions people would make about me, or if I said it’s for someone else, I don’t want to talk about his business, and I don’t want to take away from the people it does mean something to.

I don’t want him to feel like I don’t love him, or care, because I know if I asked him to get it for me, he would. No hesitation. And I wish o could say the same thing. But I don’t want it!
