Nipple Pain

My son had a tongue tie that we had clipped. I’ve been working with multiple lactation consultants. His latch is good, my milk production is great, and I’m using a nipple shield. I’m still having extremely tender, sore nipples. Is this normal? Does anyone have any tips or experiences to share? I’m so frustrated. 😩
