Is swing safe for baby to sleep in?

The more I read I am finding things that say baby shouldn’t sleep in swing.. which is a little confusing cause I find that’s what it would be used for? Anyone know a swing safe for baby to sleep in- either for napping and or at night time too

Short naps probably okay as long as you are near and watching. Overnight sleep, absolutely not. They are actually NOT made for baby to sleep in, they are made to CALM baby.

People take things to seriously for that kind of question on here. Talk to your doctor. And as long as the surface Is flatter and nothing Is around the baby for him or her to cover face etc will be fine.

no. a swing is absolutely not safe to have a newborn- sleeping for long periods of time. personally,  not even for naps.
they need to be on flat surface, on their backs, so that nothing get stop them from breathing right.. the position of all swings, is not safe, because they can easily drop their heads too low and quite literally die in their sleep within minutes.
that said, theres several reasons why some use swings.. like severe reflux,  or baby wont sleep anywhere else.
personally,  I avoided the swing, even though our daughter had severe reflux. 
I'm a light sleeper, and our daughter slept on my chest for 6 months, before her reflux got better. even though it's still not safe, I know myself,  I wake up at the slightest movement and noise..I rather have her on my chest, feel her breathing.. feel her heartbeat next to mine.. than use a swing..

Swings etc are fine for baby to sleep in under supervision. For nighttime/unsupervised sleep follow "back to sleep" reccomendations.

They're not meant to be used for sleeping. I always used it as a way to sooth to sleep and then moved her to her bed. I'd never forgive myself if something happened.

the nurse in me says no it isn't safe because the baby could be chin to chest which compromises the airway, but with that being said my kid with bad reflux wouldn't sleep anywhere else and I did it to keep my sanity for 3 weeks. if the baby will sleep somewhere flat use that instead plus it is hard to transition out of the swing, but if you need to use the swing for sleep then do it

My child’s dr told me that if he sleeps better in a swing then let him sleep in the swing. He slept in a swing the first whole year of being born and slept all trough the night and is perfectly fine! Do what you think is best!

What kind of swing? I would like to know now.
I have a mamaRoo and use it for my daughter 30-45min naps throughout the day.

i personally would say yes for naps and such during day. since youd be close by to monitor incase of anything but i wouldnt for long sleep and over nights. but thats just my opinion and how i do it with my son
