36 weeks

So I’m 36 weeks and a couple days. Last night I had the worst period like cramps. And it lasted for an hour. And wouldn’t stop. I almost went to the hospital but ended up falling asleep on the couch until 4am and it started again. But of course I slept it off. Has this happened to anyone else. I’m a first time mom, I’m scared, and i only have 3 weeks left until my due date. I have no idea what contractions feel like, or what to expect during labor. Please help..
