You’re supposed to tell your parents you’re sexually active?

So by the posts I’ve seen on here, many of y’all tell your parents you’re sexually active? Why? I don’t get this 😐 this is weird to me like why would they care? Isn’t that personal ? 😐

it just depends on your relationship with them. had i known that once i opened up to them, that they’d call me all types of names (whore, slut, skank, disgusting, etc) and use it against me, i would have never told them shit. 😊

I think of it this way: if I had a teenage daughter or son, I would hope that they’re comfortable enough to tell me that they’re being sexually active so I could get them protection or if they got hurt or end up in a teen pregnancy, I would be able to help them. 
My mom made sure I got birth control after I graduated high school and went to college because she wanted me to be safe and protected while I was away.

Most people dont tell their parents. If you have a good reason to tell them, go for it. Otherwise, I wouldn't bring it up. I know that my mom would hate to hear about it. You know your own mom better than any commenter here, so it's your call. I just don't think it's a good idea to tell your parents about it for no reason other than "other people do it"

I didn't tell my mom when I started having sex, but when I start3d becoming serious with my first boyfriend,  she made sure to ask if I was being safe and offered to get me on the pill.

My moms the one who gave me most of my sex Ed before sex Ed did😂 she taught me everything. Used medical terms and diagrams. So I was comfortable talking about it with her. She asked me one day and I said yes. She made sure I was being careful and protected and that was that.

No you don't have to but I think what most people mean by that is they want you to be able to talk to some adult in your life about what's going on. It also depends on your relationship and your own personal preference. 
Me and my mom are not close, she doesn't have a single clue what goes on in my life and I like it that way. But I do have another adult in my life that I can go to for advice or just to talk. Some people are really close to their parents and want them to know personal things like that.. there's even people that are close to their parents but would rather keep some things private. It really depends on you and your situation but like I said, as long as you have someone to go to that's all that matters.

My mom is super strict & would dishonor me for even asking her if I can get on birth control she wants me to wait for marriage so no I wouldn’t tell her lol it all depends on how the parents if they are cool with it or not

My mom and I are very close, I wanted to be safe and get on birth control so I told her, I could’ve tried doing it behind her back but it was much easier to just tell her. Obviously she wasn’t thrilled, but she was glad I came to her and she knew I was being safe
