Has anyone started the process of weaning off bottles/breast?

My LO will be one on the 11th. She is dependent on her bottle to fall asleep. (I know, terrible habit!) I’m getting a little nervous approaching her 1st birthday. What are some tips on weaning from the bottle? She does use a sippy at meal time. She’s a pretty good eater with solids. She’s ok with her sippy. We use a cup with a straw. She usually makes a mess with it but she does show interest. Thanks!

Im trying to do the sippy cup during the day and only bottle at night and first thing in the morning. I try to give her a cup of water with meals but she usually throws it all over her tray and can’t lean back enough in her chair to drink it. She thinks she has to recline. Our high chair is wood so it’s just one way to sit. But she does always want a sip of my water from my cup. I can’t get her to drink from a straw so I haven’t bought any of the sippy cups with a straw. I’m not sure how to teach her to make it work.

We are starting to do sippy cup only during the day and bottle 1st thing in the morning and before bed. My daughter takes meds twice a day and we mix it in her bottle, so only way we can guarantee she finishes it since she is hit or miss with the sippy 🤷‍♀️

We are! My daughter will be 11 months on the 28th, so we aren’t in a rush. She’s been doing perfectly fine with justba sippy cup during the day. She will drink out of anything but we stick with a contigo water bottle for water and take and toss cup for milk with meals. She gets a bottle before nap and bed, but doesn’t really need it because she eats and drinks enough during the day. It’s more a habit. With my son who is 2 now we just stopped cold turkey at 11 months and he was completely fine. We’ll do the same with my daughter and see how it goes 🙌

We use a bottle at bedtime too (and several times at night too). I think we’ll continue with it and as we transition her to whole milk throughout the day, eventually have milk at bedtime too, and water at night. I’m not in a huge rush to change things 😁

If she’s enjoying it to fall asleep then I say leave her be for now and just slowly try mix it up. She’s got a good routine going no need to upset it. I’re heard paediatricians tell me friends that it only affects their teeth closer to around 2 if they are still on bottles. I’m still breastfeeding my son to sleep during the day 🙂
