Puppy with a baby advice?

Question

I just got a puppy. But found out I am 10 weeks pregnant at the same time. I love my little pup so so much, he’s just a tiny little Morkie and just the sweetest. he will be around the 1 year mark by the time the baby is born. 
Any advice on how to be safest I can be with a baby and a one year old pup when my baby does arrive? 
(Just a note, getting rid of my pup is not an option ☺️)

I agree with advice get your training started early also crate training is a great option especially for when your baby gets mobile puppy may want a “safe space” after baby can go after him

Get your sit and wait commands down pat. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Slowly introduce baby to puppy and ALWAYS supervise if they are together. I have 3 pups, when baby is here the oldest will be 3.5 and youngest 1 year. I plan on having a play pen for baby or swing for when I must be hands free but any floor time will involve arms reach until the dogs get used to the baby and understand boundaries. Or vice versa. I’ll have a whole lot of time to establish these boundaries and work with baby and dogs :) . Good luck and I’m sure they’ll be best friends!

Start training early. Try to get him used to basic training commands. He best advice I have heard (and followed) was to not exclude the pup for the nursery. When you keep him out of the room, he will begin to get jealous and wonder “why is mom spending all this time in there and I can’t come in?” Let’s be honest, dog hair will get on your baby whether he is in the room or not. I have also started leaving things like pacifiers around the house so my dog gets used to seeing them and leaving them alone. When I first introduced the pacifier to him, I held it out to him and let him sniff it. At first he tried to take it, but I pulled it away and said “uh-uh” which is our no command. I repeated this a few times until he sniffed it and then turned away. When he left it alone, I praised him and gave him a treat.

Aww! dogs love babies! just Remeber to still give him attention & don't make him less with the baby and stuff! dogs get jealous and upset 😭 I say let him get near the baby at times so he can smell her/him & recognize her! even though they feel and know when you have a baby inside!
