Is it safe to take melatonin?

I'm 18 weeks and lately I've been tossing and turning so much at night that my husband leaves to sleep on the couch 😂 I just can't get comfortable! Is melatonin safe to take at this stage, or are there any other options available?

No actually .. I asked my dr and pharmacist as I struggled with insomnia in the second trimester, badly.
I was told to take one benadryl tablet before bed. Benadryl is safer than melatonin even though melatonin is a natural hormone we produce in our bodies.
Benadryl also combats morning sickness as it has the same property in it they use for anti nausea medications such as diclectin/diclegis

I take unisom .. it knocks me out and it’s safe according to my doctor ❤️he said it’s safer than melatonin

I would not take it simply because it’s not something that is regulated by the FDA and it is a hormone. That means even though the tablets say there’s a certain amount in them it can actually be a higher dose/potency. Therefore I believe it is unsafe to take. However, Unisom is safe to take while you’re pregnant. Always ask your OB before taking anything.

3 grams and under is safe. Most tablets are 10, so what I did was break them into three pieces.

Yes melatonin is perfectly safe as long as it is 3g Or below if you have a local Walgreens they have it
