Amniocentesis anyone?

I’m 38 pregnant with baby #5 by the time I deliver I will be 39 and doctor recommended doing amniocentesis just had it done yesterday and I must say the scariest experience of my life has anyone else had to do this ?

I’m 39 but my doctor suggested genetic testing. It’s just a blood test.

Did you do the blood testing first? I’m 41 and I’ll do that and wait to see if there are any likely bad outcomes before ding invasive testing. It scares me!

I had one with my last (3rd) child at 36 yrs old. Yes, scary to go through but fortunately everything came back normal. I hate needles so I had to look away.

I had one with my 5th pregnancy and it wasn't bad at all; more nerves than anything ... Just don't look at the needle ...

Did your OB perform it or a specialist? Are you on bedrest or limited activity for awhile? How did you calm yourself for it? I'd be shaking all over.

I opted for the blood test and all came back good. This was enough to ease my mind. I will be 39 at delivery
