Should I tell my family?

I am only 4 weeks and 2 days along, my first work up with the doctor wont be until 8-9weeks. This is my first known pregnancy and I have never had a miscarriage before to my knowledge. But after reading what others go through, I almost feel like if I tell my mom, or my brothers, or really anyone besides my husband, I'm jinxing it somehow. Should I just wait until I have my first ultrasound? It's so hard to keep a secret from my family.

I think it really depends if you're comfortable telling them if something does go wrong. If you feel like you could use their support in the event of a loss, then why wait. If you're the type to grieve on your own, then try to keep it to yourself until you're in the safe zone. 
I personally have decided to tell my 7yo daughter and our families at 5 weeks. I feel like whichever way this pregnancy goes, I will want their support. Even though my daughter is young, she is very well educated about the risks in pregnancy and the chances of losing the baby since she has seen me help my best friend grieve through her multiple pregnancy losses over the last year. I try not to sugar-coat life for her and she knows very well that it's still early, but it's also ok to be excited!

It is a very personal decision. I had I miscarriage in December and our both family knew about the pregnancy. It was very important to me to have their support during a hard time. We just found out we are expecting again (same as you, 4w2days) and we told our both parents and very close family members and my best friend. I want them to know and in case of a sad end I need their support again.

We plan on telling our parents after the first ultrasound @ 7 weeks. I’m terrified of having a MC because my mom had one and multiple people I work with have had them, but I know it’s common. We’re not telling our siblings or friends/public until after I have the testing done to make sure everything is ok. So probably 2nd trimester for them. This is my first and I’ve always been scared of doing something wrong and causing issues with the baby. I need to have my parents there for me in case something happens so they’ll be first to know.

Two years ago my fiance and I got pregnant and ended up having a miscarriage at 8 weeks. We told our families at 5 weeks that we were expecting. I found out two days ago that I'm pregnant. We plan on waiting to tell our families this time around.

I agree with Ana in that it is a personal decision. However, for me i regretted telling our families. It was my first pregnancy and We told family at around 5/6 weeks. Both husband and i agreed that one of the hardest things we had to do was explain to our families what had happened and answering all their questions because they were so concerned. At the time my husband and I just wanted to hibernate for a couple of weeks and be there for each other and grieve the way we wanted to. This time, i am now 6 weeks and have had an early scan (sack is where it should be so not an ectopic again -yay) and i have another scan in 2 weeks bringing us to 2 months pregnant and thats when we decided we will tell our mums and close siblings. But then again hun - it completely depends on what it is you want. Hopefully nothing will go wrong with you anyway! Good luck and congrats! X

I waited until about 8 weeks with my son and with this one I told close family right away but will be waiting until my father in law gets out of jail to tell anyone else. We want it to be an extra happy time for my father in law.
