Can 16 week gender scan be wrong ?

Question

Hi all, just wondering if there is a possibility of having it wrong. I went for a limited anatomy scan at 16 weeks 3 days and was told its a girl. I am little disappointed and thats why I am not fully convinced and have this feeling from the beginning that its a boy.. 
Are scans at this stage 100 %accurate ??

I don’t think scans are ever 100% accurate but at 16+ weeks there’s a high chance that it was accurate. Did you get the see girl parts clearly? If not, there might be a chance it wasn’t accurate.

I got told I was having a girl, at just over 14 weeks. At just over 19 weeks, I got told baby girl is in fact actually a baby boy

Yeah they can be . This is why most will say wait til 20 weeks. No scan is ever 100% accurate but the further along the more accurate

I’ve heard of them being inaccurate, but that wasn’t the case with me. It probably just depends on how cooperative the baby is and how good of a look you can get :) we went in at 14.5 weeks and (after 20 minutes) the tech was able to get a very clear close up pic between the legs. It was very clear it was a girl,especially when I compared to what boy scans looked like between the legs!

I jut got back from the doctor and I’m at 16w4d.  She told me that she wasn’t 100% by was giving her best educated guess. Next time she’ll really be able to tell.  I appreciated her honesty there.  
So, no, I don’t think they are 100% accurate but are probably pretty accurate overall.

I get scans done evey 2 weeks due to being high risk and I was first told at 14 weeks I was having a girl but since it was so early not to go crazy with girl stuff just yet, at 16 weeks she was definitely still a girl and we just had our anatomy scan and she is 100% for sure a little lady 💖💖 Good luck I feel like the tech wouldn't tell you a gender if she wasn't sure or she would say that's what she thinks but its positive.. but I also don't know how clear your scan was either.. mine were all very clear
