Overweight baby?? 😢

Question

Just had our wic appointment they took my sons weight and height his weight is in the 98th percentile and height

is 83 percentile and they said he’s overweight and they want their babies lower then 80? He was born at 7.4 pounds and exclusively breastfed never given a bottle started solids once a day at 6 months and he barely eats now he only nurse 4-5 times a day and they kinda make me feel like I’m a horrible mother like my son is super fat i only fed him breastmilk so not sure why he’d be overweight I’m pretty healthy.

Please dont listen to WIC over your daughters pediatrician. I had wic when I was pregnant with my first and I disagreed with a lot of what they think.

my baby girl is in 98th too!! chubby and happy! i love love love it!! they are just fine and beautiful! my pediatrician said things similar to your wic lady and I was so nervous I drove myself crazy, but everyone assured me i was doing just fine ❤

First. Wic is stupid. So not listen to them. Only listen to your pediatrician. I can’t stand wic and their idiotic “guidelines”. Your child is not overweight. Bigger than most, but not over weight. Once they get really moving and running all over most babies thin out. Don’t worry about it.

My daughter weighed 23 pds at her 6 month checkup. She is almost 7 months and wears 18 and 24 month clothing. Shit sometimes it even has to be 2 and 3 T. Depends. She’s been in the 99 and 100th percentiles since birth ❤️

My LO is overweight aswell but she’s mostly breastfed and has started some solids 
Most people even my child health nurse says not to worry to much when they start to walk/crawl it will usually drop off

Don't feel bad! My doctor seems a little different than yours. She told me with breastfeeding she isn't concerned about my child's weight because they regulate themselves and it's a very healthy source of fat (it's not like they're eating junk). Unless your doctor gives you advice on going to a dietitian/ recommends something of the sorts I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just make sure to keep an eye on him as he gets older and moves on to grown up food that he's eating the right things 😊 
It's funny my son almost has the opposite measurements as your son. He's in the >98 percentile on height and 81 percentile for weight. Has he jumped extremely on his growth curve recently or was it earlier on? He may have been getting settled into his actual growth rate ? My son jumped the growth curve rates a lot randomly with his height. You're doing a great job, you showing concern is an example of how much you love your baby boy.
